Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University is a public state open university in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It delivers 80+ programmes through open, distance and online (ODL) learning, supported by regional centres and 300+ study centres across the state.
Established by the Government of Gujarat in 1994 and named after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, BAOU is recognised by the UGC and its Distance Education Bureau (UGC-DEB), and accredited A++ by NAAC.
Its degrees are accepted for government recruitment, private employment and higher study.

BAOU offers 80+ undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, certificate and doctoral programmes across arts, commerce, management, computer applications, social work and library science — all through open, distance and online (ODL) mode.
Popular undergraduate options include BA, B.Com, BBA, BCA and BSW. At postgraduate level the university offers MA, M.Com, MBA, MCA and MSW. Admission is mostly merit-based on your qualifying-exam marks; a few programmes such as B.Ed and PhD require an entrance test.
